Intro to Parents for Parents Program
October 24th 10 am - 11:30 am
Presenters: Ambrosia Eberhardt, BLS-CPC, Statewide Family Impact Manager, and Ambyr Rose, Parents for Parents Program Specialist
In this webinar, we will explore the Parents for Parents (P4P) program: its purpose, structure, and objectives. P4P is a parent-led initiative, with leadership roles filled by parents and support provided by parent allies. The program employs a three-pronged approach that includes support at hearings, a one-time two-hour class called Dependency 101, and ongoing mentoring.
We will also examine the historical context of parent leadership and advocacy that led to the establishment of this program, as well as how our core values continue to shape our future direction. As a promising practice, studies indicate that participation in the full P4P program model correlates with a 26% increase in reunification rates for families.
