WEBINAR

About the event

Join us for a 2 hour webinar exploring the critical intersections of bias, stigma, and whole person care in recovery residences. The session will begin with a focused look at stigma, including public, self, courtesy, and label-avoidance stigma, why substance use disorder stigma is unique, and multiple strategies for reducing stigma. Participants will also consider how subcultural stigma impacts treatment, recovery, and recovery residences. From there, we will turn to bias, identifying and discussing different types of bias, examining the four big problems and four truths of bias, and exploring strategies to address and reduce bias in healthcare settings. The webinar will conclude with a discussion of whole person care, emphasizing why it is essential in recovery support. We will define and provide examples of whole person care, highlight how trauma and harm reduction serve as central components, and explain the role of recovery capital and social determinants of health…
